MBSR Teacher Training—Essentials in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction offered online

I will offer Essentials of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction June-August of 2025 as delineated by the Global Mindfulness Collaborative (GMC).

While successful completion of this training does not authorize you to teach the 8-Week MBSR curriculum it will provide a solid foundation to teach introductory mindfulness classes. It will be accepted as the first step for the continuation of this training with any member of the Mindfulness Teacher Training Alliance or the Global Mindfulness Collaborative including the Center for Mindfulness at Brown. Click here for a full description of the MBSR Teacher Training Pathway.
In this ten-week program, students:
* attend all sessions as a participant/observer of an MBSR program (includes orientation, all eight-week sessions plus the All-Day session)
* participate in ten concurrent professional training seminars
In this first step in the MBSR Teacher Training pathway teacher trainees engage fully in the 8-week MBSR program as participants and as observers. In addition, they engage with other trainees and the instructor in a 3.5-hour seminar exploring the underpinnings, approach, and teacher qualities in which the program is steeped.

Pre-requisites*
- Previous participation in an 8-week MBSR course

In the direct teacher training lineage of Jon Kabat-Zinn shared by all teacher trainers of MTTA and the GMC, this initial training is an immersive course in developing MBSR teaching competencies through rigorous study and reflection steeped in internationally accredited standards, ethics, and the heart of personal and interpersonal mindfulness. Attendance at all MBSR classes and seminars is required. In addition to the Essentials seminar, MBSR class, and practices of MBSR, there are seminar readings, journaling, and other intersession assignments. Taking into account, the class, seminar, daily practice, and additional readings, this is a 14-16 hour weekly commitment. It is a co-created learning opportunity in which you will be well supported! Through the MBSR Essentials curriculum, we together cultivate teaching as a practice this lifelong path to skillfully offer mindfulness in the world.
